My friend has been having electrolysis for years, why is that?

Is electrolysis/laser painful?
While everyone has their own pain tolerance, some areas are more sensitive than others. Most clients build up a tolerance after the first few treatments. We also offer wonderful topical anesthetics for sale that you may apply prior to your appointment.

How long does the hair have to be?
Laser clients are asked to thoroughly shave the area prior to each laser treatment. For electrolysis, the hair only needs to be long enough to grasp with our tweezer-like forceps. You may bleach or trim the hairs in between treatments, however it's best not to remove the hair or root with temporary methods such as waxing, threading or using depilatories.
What should I expect after a laser treatment?
Following your laser treatments, you may return to your normal activities. The skin’s immediate reaction will appear pink to red with a bit of inflammation. This may last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. For the next day or so it may feel comparable to a mild sunburn. Aloe vera gel is recommended to help soothe the treated area. After 7-14 days the treated hairs will begin to shed from the skin. During this period you may use a loofah to help exfoliate the treated hairs or shave if necessary. Within a few weeks of the hairs shedding, your new finer hairs may begin to grow and it will be time for your next treatment.

Ingrown hairs can develop from shaving, waxing or tweezing the hairs. They can be safely eliminated by permanently removing the hairs with laser or electrolysis.
