Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is the use of laser energy to produce long term hair reduction. The laser hand piece is pulsed onto the skin emitting a beam of light which is absorbed by the pigment within the hair. This light is converted into energy that disables the hair follicle, impairing its ability to grow. Multiple treatments are required to achieve permanency.

All dark hairs respond extremely well to the laser and it quickly clears larger areas such as arms, legs, backs, chests as well as shaved areas such as bikinis and underarms. It is not effective on hairs with little or no pigment such as white, gray, blond and some red hairs. For the most optimal results, we recommend an average of 4-6 treatments spaced out every 6-8 weeks.

Our laser is a Lumenis LightSheer™ Diode. It has a patented Chill Tip™ hand piece which provides epidermal cooling and protects the skin from heat damage. This state-of-the-art laser has Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for permanent hair reduction and is safe for all skin types.

Our laser technicians have been fully trained under the supervision of a physician who specializes in medical lasers. Along with this training, we have received certification from The Skin and Laser Surgery Center of New England as well as attended comprehensive training seminars from laser manufacturers Cynosure and Coherent Medical Group as well as IPL manufacturer Palomar. We have completed laser education courses and continuing education classes on laser hair removal at the Electrology Institute of New England.
